Wetwang Slack Iron Age Chariot Burial Components, Chariot Burial 2, Museum of East Riding, Hull, 10.3.18.
These stunning Iron Age objects were buried in the grave of a an Iron Age woman about 2300 years ago.
The grave was one of a group of three which contained dismantled carts or chariots. The other two were men buried with swords.
The most striking object here is a cylindrical sheet bronze container with sealed ends and curvilinear decoration from the 2nd of 3rd century BCE. Also pictured is a bridal bit and four terrets or rein rings. The white components are missing coral studs which would have been red.
