Uniform and Hanger of the 49th Regiment of Foot dated about the 1770′s on display at the National Army Museum in London

The 49th was originally raise in Jamaica where it was moved from there to Ireland and then back to North America where it fought during the American Revolutionary War. The regiment was part of the British forces during the Philadelphia Campaign until 1778 when it was shipped out to the West Indies where it took part in the Battle of St. Lucia before returning to Ireland in 1780.
