British Pattern 1821 Artillery Officer’s Sword (Short Variant)
The single edged polished steel blade with chased decoration inscribed by retailers to the ricasso for Millan & Mann, George St. Edinburgh, three bar hilt with fish skin grip bound with brass wire. 79 cm overall.
These short P1821 variants are rather rare, and seem to have been used by volunteer artillery units. The short blades make sense for men who are working in close quarters. With an overall length of 79 cm (~31 in), I would guess that the blade itself is roughly 63-66 cm (~25-26 in).
